Owen Rhys!

Owen Rhys Book-Satterlee was born on Thursday, September 13. He was a little over seven pounds and almost twenty inches long. We are enjoying being a family of four. Eliana adores her little brother and he seeems to enjoy her as well (in a newborn kind of way!). I realize I am WAY behind on this blog, and I plan on updating about our summer, but I wanted to let you know about the newest change in our lives before too much time went by!

Camp Kikoten

At the end of May we went to a camp that is sponsored by LAM to train our summer facilitators. It was a wonderful change of pace, but also exhausting at the same time. :)

Election Year

Like in the States, this year is a presidential election for Mexico. We went downtown to go to a cultural fair and ran into an event held in support of our Mexican family's favorite presidential choice, Andrés Manuel López Obredor, or AMLO. This picture is on Reforma, one of the main streets in Mexico City at the Angel of Independence, an important cultural landmark.

First Field Trip

Obviously I am WAY behind on posting. Eliana and I are on a short vacation visiting family, so I will hopefully be able to use some of this time to catch up! One decision that Kevin and I have not regreted at all since moving to Mexico City is enrolling Eliana in her little preschool two mornings a week. She absolutely loves it and we have loved seeing her learn and integrate into the culture in so many ways. At the end of April Eliana's class took a field trip to the National Palace where they had a special display about the kings of Spain and rulers and presidents of Mexico. It was really neat and the docents did an awesome job of bringing it to the kids' level (that of mostly 2 and 3 year olds). Here are a few of our pictures.

Learning about the kings of Spain...

and their painters.

Eliana got chosen to be dressed up as the king, but she wasn't too into it. Two seconds later she burst into tears.

Teacher Viki and Valeria were the substitutes!

Easter Pictures

Before the hunt, Eliana says "Peace!" :)

Where should we look?

This way!

Ana's found three and it looks like she has her eye on another!

A little tippy-toe action, and she's got it.

Pretty much imposible to get them all smiling at once, one smile,
one smirk and one who knows what isn't so bad!

Ana and Eliana counting their eggs.

Mom, do I really have to look into the sun to take a picture?

Andrés reading the Easter story to the girls.

So they didn't pay the closest of attention, but I think overall it was a success! :)
